I’m stunned by the hubris and insolence of the Ford marketing and design people. I get putting a V6 in the GT. I get not putting a manual in the GT500. I even get making the Edge ST. There must be compromises in this world, that’s just how life goes. They keep making stuff like the Fiesta ST and the GT350R and that makes it me happy. But This?

no

just no

Had to pause after a few minutes to say...

... They seem to have out-thought themselves on the doors. How is it easier to have the doors pop open as you approach them, vs simply using a door handle? You STILL have to open the door, no matter the scenario. 4" offers no real utility. And the expectation to stick your hand behind there to open it ? What?! How is this easier or intuitive?

Also zero to 60 in 7 seconds... So it’s four-tenths of a second faster than my 17 year old car? What?!

Agree on the door thing. I wonder how strong the door opening motor is, I would hope that it could open up through ice and snow and such.

The Camry XSE does no 0-60 in 5.8. Camrys shouldn’t beat mustangs.

I’m not against this car. I actually like it, and I like where Ford is trying to go with it. I just don’t understand the Mustang branding. I know they’re trying to jump start their new premium EV with a well known brand, but it doesn’t work well for me. I would have thought calling it the “Mach-E” and including all the sporty Mustang visual cues would have done the job.

Inside, I think the big rectangular screen isn’t just derivative of the Tesla, it’s lazy in its own right.  I feel like they could have designed something so much more attractive and functional.

It’s a second slower than my Fiesta

E lectric E scape with Mustang marketing - but is this any worse than the current “Blazer” situation?

They could have called it the Dave, the Ohm, the Positron, the Luxur-E, or the Edsel. They could have w ent bold and with the design, but instead they scaled back a concept car and s apped a few MUSTANG badges on it.

No, it's not. It's also on the same level as Mitsubishi trying to bring back the Lancer EVO as a crossover.

The weird thing with this is it’s electric, isn't getting off the line one if the things they can do better than an ice?

The blazer actually looks good, and it makes me mad because the camaro is ugly.

Based on the numbers they’ve tuned it for range, electric motors do make all the torque at 0rpm, but if they have designed the driveline to optimize efficiency under way, the stop any go performance could be limited. They may also be saving money by having a lower spec motor controller that can’t deliver full amperage for max torque from o rpm. An electric motor draws the most current at max torque and zero RPM, aka stall. If their motor controller can’t provide the needed current it may actually have less power from a start than the max power rating would suggest. Or they might be attempting to protect driveline components... In any case, a Hyundai Kona Electric equals the AWD big-battery model in acceleration with FWD and only 201 HP. I call lame.

Additionally, the Kona EV gets nearly the same range as the 75kw rwd model, with only a 64 kw battery. The Kona EV is a little smaller, but its not much lighter weight.

Like the Top Gear guy said, the “Mach” label hinted at the Mustang past, and that would have been enough.

So, is this the first “Mustang” that will be a global release?
